Although extra tasty, our chunky meals can be tricky to store.
That’s why we’ve made each pouch more flexible, making them easier to stack in your freezer.
Nothing else changes: each pouch contains the same chunky meals your pup knows and loves, with more flexibility for improved storage.
Look out for this change in your upcoming deliveries — you might receive a mix of flexible and rigid-packed pouches as we roll out this change. Once we’ve fully transitioned, all chunky meal pouches will be flexible.
Flexible packaging FAQs
Q. Why have we made our pouches more flexible?
A. Flexible pouches have a flatter, more even surface — this makes them easier to stack on top of one another or fit into tight, awkward spots in your freezer. With this change, you can save up to 15% more space.
Q. Will this be rolled out across all Lyka pouches?
A. For now, this change is being rolled out to chunky Kangaroo, Beef and Chicken pouches.
Q. Will chunky meals still be the same inside?
A. Yes, each chunky pouch still contains the same tasty food your pup knows and loves.
Same nutritional content, ingredients and portion size
Same snap-frozen, real food chunky pieces
They can still be stored in the fridge for 3 days (opened) and in the freezer for 6 months.
Q. Are you still using the same plant-based packaging?
A. Yes, it's still the same bioplastic packaging made from sugarcane.
Q. What do I do if I’ve received a defrosted chunky meal pouch?
A. If you have a food thermometer, measure the pouch temperature. If it's below 5°C, the pouch is considered safe to refreeze and consume. If the temperature is above 5°C or you don't have a food thermometer available, please get in touch with the Customer Care team for a replacement.
Q. What do I do if I’ve received a pouch that doesn’t seem tightly sealed?
A. Test the seal by applying gentle pressure or submerging the whole pouch in water. If the seal is broken, water will seep into the pouch. Get in touch with our Customer Care team to discuss next steps.
Q. What about flexible packaging and freezer burn?
A. We snap-freeze our meals in a temperature-controlled environment and seal them tightly to reduce the risk of freezer burn. Reduce freezer burn at home by minimising opening the freezer door and keeping the pouches frozen until you're ready to serve.
