All of our meat is human-grade and sourced as ethically and sustainably as possible. Put simply, we care where our meat comes from and the way in which it is procured for your dog’s bowl.
Our beef and lamb are grass-fed, our chicken is free-range, our turkey is barn-raised and our kangaroo is wild-caught using the national code of practice for ethical harvesting. Our fish and fish oil are also obtained through wild-caught, sustainable fishing practices. Not only does this ensure that the animals are treated ethically, but these meats also provide superior nutrition for your pupper.
Grass-fed and roam-free meats have less fat and are richer in nutrients compared to their grain-fed counterparts. Not to mention, they contain a higher Omega 3 : Omega 6 ratio, which reduces cellular inflammation and helps to protect your dog from diseases like cancer.

No, Lyka is a fresh, lightly cooked diet. Our meats and vegetables are prepared the same way we would cook our own food. Our seeds, oils, herbs and other ingredients are added raw.
Raw meat poses food safety risks, such as potential contamination through pathogens and bacteria. Some raw food companies may not produce balanced food, which may lead to pupper getting long-term deficiencies in certain nutrients. Plus, some puppers are particularly sensitive to a raw diet and are not be able to handle consuming raw meat.
Lyka bowls are the best of all three worlds: complete and balanced meals made from clean ingredients, without the risk of bacteria and pathogens, and gentle on sensitive tummies.

We are philosophically against adding higher glycemic index carbohydrates, such as potatoes, rice and corn, as these are tied to blood sugar spikes which increase risk of diabetes in dogs.
Our recipes also steer clear of legumes such as lentils, chickpeas and peas, which have been linked to a heart condition - canine dilated cardiomyopathy, in an emerging study by the FDA.
Lyka bowls focus on lower glycemic index carbohydrates such as vegetables. These ingredients don’t lead to blood sugar spikes, as well as provide a large variety of micronutrients in our meals.
Our ancient grains of choice are quinoa and black barley, which are a great source of fibre and phytonutrients. The amount of these ingredients in our recipes is very low (a maximum of 6%) compared to other pet foods, especially kibble, that typically contain around 50% grains or legumes.

If you are purchasing your first Lyka box, you will be billed immediately upon checkout. If you are an ongoing subscriber, the Sunday midnight cut-off before your next box remains the same.
It is important to note, though, you will be billed separately for your treats and your meal subscription. You will see two transactions on your billing statement - one for your regular meal subscription and one for any extras, including treats.

At check-out, you can choose to either sign up for a continuous plan straight away or select the starter box, that will later convert to a plan. After you receive your starter box, you have the freedom to pause or cancel at any time.

Factors like their current weight, age, activity level and body shape assist our algorithm to accurately calculate the daily calorie intake that your pupper needs to maintain their ideal weight.
If your pupper’s profile changes or you simply feel that we haven’t landed on the correct serving size, please let us know and we’ll make sure to find the perfect fit.
Some Lyka recipes are leaner, richer or higher in calories than others and therefore, intake recommendations are based on an average. If you switch up your pup’s meal plan by adding or removing recipes, different to what was recommended to you, we suggest keeping a close eye on your pup’s weight and body shape for any indications that they may need to go up or down in pouch sizes.
