Along with being a fun thing to fling at your friends at the beach, kelp is actually great for your dog!

Jam-packed full of natural vitamins and minerals that are highly beneficial to your pup’s health, kelp is one of the best sources of iodine, which is essential for thyroid hormone production. All vertebrate animals require this hormone to sustain life. This type of seaweed is also a great way to ensure your pup gets plenty of other goodies such as Vitamin K, magnesium, proteins and amino acids.

To ensure ocean supplies are preserved we only harvest kelp that has been deposited on the rocks and beaches.

DID YOU KNOW: the more robust a kelp forest is in the ocean, the more it can help to stop climate change due to it absorbing large amounts of carbon dioxide.

The heroes of kelp

Iodine

The rich iodine content in kelp is the main reason this ingredient is included our recipes. This unique form of seaweed helps to regulate and stabilise your dog’s glandular system, including adrenal, pituitary and thyroid. It also speeds up their metabolism and weight loss. Low levels of iodine in your dog’s diet can contribute to the onset of hypothyroidism.

Vitamin K

Kelp is a great source of vitamin K which is needed for blood to clot. An essential if your pup suffers from a cut or graze. Vitamin K deficiency causes excessive bleeding2 so it is important that your dog’s diet includes this clever clotting vitamin.

Magnesium and protein

Magnesium is an essential mineral that safeguards your dog's heart function, energy, and nervous system. Whilst protein is a very important part of a healthy, balanced canine diet. To create new skin cells, grow hair and build muscle tissue it is essential your dog has an adequate intake of proteins and amino acids. Kelp has all these vital nutrients so it's a great one-stop shop.

Why kelp is good for your dog’s thyroid

It is common for dogs to suffer from Hypothyroidism. This condition is associated with lethargy and weight gain. It can also cause their fur to fall out and lead to skin diseases and even cancer. Being a rich source of iodine, kelp is a healthy and effective ingredient to help your dog’s thyroid function at an optimal level.

Why kelp is good for your dog’s skin

A natural powerhouse when it comes to your skin, kelp contains many antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to help reduce inflammation, redness and irritation caused by skin conditions and environmental factors.
